The 365.

It's been a while and I'm back now :) Here are some images from my 365 project where I take a photo a day for a year! It's tough making time to go out of my way to take great photos everyday, so please bear with me :D.

Here are 3 from April:

Prepare for liftoff
Shot with Canon 30D + 50mm f/1.8
This was actually taken with a non macro lens, and cropped as much as possible :P

Blossom
Taken with Canon 30D + 50mm f/1.8
I took this about a month ago, when the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom.

Blockwall
Shot with Canon s95
This was one of those moments where I instantly saw something I wanted to take a photo of. I was thinking of doing black and white, but I thought this photo looked better in colour so I left it like that.

That's all for now, come back often as I may do some photography tutorials for beginners in the future :)

Macro photography : Seeing in another perspective Part II

I hope you enjoyed my last post, here are a few more of my macro shots :)

Here are a few of my images. They are all mine and taken with my Canon 30D + Tubes + 50mm f/1.8 and occasionally my cheapo ebay flash ($60) + cheapo ebay flash triggers ($11)

More fruit! Anybody here like papaya?

Macro photography : Seeing in another perspective Part I

Hi guys, I'm going to feature today's post on macro photography. With macro photography, we get to see things different that we would normally overlook daily.

I can't afford a real macro lens, so I'm using a $5 extension tube set that I put in between my camera and lens. They are really painful to use as I have to set the aperture, trick the camera into thinking the lens is still connected by removing the lens while holding down the DOF preview button, mounting it onto the tubes, and then trying to look through the viewfinder which is now so dark that I can't see anything (Because the aperture is manually held half shut). Then on top of that I have to set manual settings for the shutter speed and focusing.

It is extremely time consuming and frustrating, but something is better than nothing :P.

Here are a few of my images. They are all mine and taken with my Canon 30D + Tubes + 50mm f/1.8 and occasionally my cheapo ebay flash ($60) + cheapo ebay flash triggers ($11). A Canon flash would cost $400+ and a set of pocket wizard triggers would cost $300+. The triggers I own are known as the "Poverty Wizards". :D.

This is a macro shot of a spinach leaf, I put my flash under and snapped this. I really like how the "veins" light up with contrast.

Jan 5 - Spinach Macro
Shot with Canon 30D + 50mm f/1.8 + Various attachments.

Guess what this is :D? A strawberry! Pretty cool, huh? It actually looks like there is glitter inside.

Feb 9 - Sparkle
Shot with Canon 30D + 50mm f/1.8 + Various attachments.

This was taken when it was snowing at my place. It's not that great of a shot but I don't have many macro photos and I'm saving some for my next post ;D

Feb 21 - Snow Cone
Shot with Canon 30D + 50mm f/1.8 + Various attachments.

That's all for today, let me know what you guys think :) The next post will have a few more of my other macro shots + a photo of my tubes and camera for those interested.

Thanks for looking!
